The zApp Developer's Suite has been shipping for X/Motif since December, and the initial response has been fantastic. The zApp Developer's Suite is being welcomed by X/Motif developers because it provides an easy way to build graphical user interfaces that are fully native and utilize the X/Motif Widgets. While the zApp Developer's Suite goes beyond tools previously available on X/Motif platforms, X/Motif developers have been comfortable working with it because it utilizes native X/Motif Widgets.
The zApp Developer's Suite provides full coverate for Motif UI objects and Xt API and X11 drawing and event management. The zApp Developer's Suite uses native Motif Widgets under a thin wrapper layer and provides full access to underlying X and Motif objects -- Widgets, GC's, colors, fonts, cursors. Motif developers will also appreciate its simple and intuitive drawing model layered on the X drawing primitives.
Additionally, there are many features in the zApp Developer's Suite that have been added in a Motif Style-Guide compliant wan, including:
GUI controls: Toolbar, Status line, and ComboBox.
High level dialogs: Color selection, font selection, powerful file open/save (one line of code to implement file open), and powerful message boxes (one line of code to obtain the user's response).
Data Entry Objects: 2D Data tabe/spreadsheet, formatted edit fields supporting COBOL-style picture strings, and dialog validation and form-entry functionality.
"The zApp Developer's Suite gives X/Motif developers a full solution for developing multiplatform applications. Our goal from the beginning was to make it a great X/Motif tool before we made it a great portability tool. It allows developers to utilize the power of the X/Motif environment to visually design, prototype, and generate zApp applications in record time," said Jeff Rayfield, Software Architect, Visual Programming Tools.
The zApp Developer's Suite consists of the zApp Application Framework, the zApp Interface Pack, and zApp Factory. The zApp Developer's Suite for X/Motif (as of Spring, 1995) sells for $2,995 and includes complete source code to the zApp libraries.
Dear Programmer,
The past few months have been really eventful here at Inmark.
InfoWorld just finished their exhaustive 15,000 word "round-up"
of portable application frameworks and zApp came out the clear winner.
Software Development bestowed upon us an unprecedented second
consecutive Productivity Award,
Windows Tech Journal just awarded us a
Reader's Choice Award,
and more and more trade magazines are touting the benefits of using zApp. Recent
reviews have run in
InfoWorld,
Software Development,
JOOP,
C++ Report, and PC Techniques.
Why all of this favorable press in a mere few months? We think it is part of the large momentum that the zApp line of products has achieved. As more and more happy users tell their friends about zApp, enthusiasm for the product has spread across the industry. This is what we see happening.
But this momentum didn't just happen. Inmark has more than doubled in size in each of the past two years. While maintaining this growth, we also put together a world-class team of people who will continue to drive the company foward in 1995 and beyond. There have been many accomplishments for Inmark, including delivering a number of exciting new products. Probably the most exciting accomplishment, however, has been the development of a large number of relationships with companies building mission critical applications with our products. For us, this is our most gratifying accomplishment because it means that we are making a contribution to our customers.
Over the next couple of years, we will continue to build our relationships with development organizations by building on the strengths that have helped us grow in the past -- product excellence, in-depth support, and flexibility. We will also continue to expand the range of products and services that we offer so that we can provide a broader solution for developers and development teams. We hope that you will take advantange of Inmark's services and products in your development. We are looking forward to working with you and other developers to make your job easier and more exciting in the coming years. Please give us a call, send email, or visit our web site if you have questions or comments about Inmark.
Cordially,
Howard Love
